Secure Your Accounts

  • Use unique and strong passwords for each account
  • Enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) whenever possible
  • Use a password manager
  • Ensure usernames and passwords are never written down

Secure Your Devices

  • Screen lock your devices
  • Never leave your devices unattended
  • Check your privacy settings
  • Enable tracking to protect your device should it go missing

Secure Your Data

  • Backup and save your data via OneDrive and CrashPlan
  • Encrypt all external hard drives and USB drives
  • Don’t leave any digital or physical documents unattended
  • Shred all sensitive information as soon as it is no longer needed

Information Security Tips

  • Think before you click. Go slow, be suspicious, and verify messages before clicking on any links or attachments.
  • Be aware. Emails with the [EXTERNAL] tag coming from a Villanova email address is NOT legitimate.
  • Share your information with caution. If it’s too good to be true, it probably is.
  • Report any suspicious emails by using the Report Message Button in Outlook.
