Attention: Mediasite Mosaic will no longer be supported after December 31, 2025.
This will not delete any Mosaic recordings you have saved locally, but we do recommend that users uninstall
the application from their device(s) and begin to use Mediasite Capture for content creation.
Overview
This article describes how to set up, record, and upload a screen recording on your device without installing any additional applications. Start by creating an "In-browser" presentation in MyMediasite. Then open Mediasite Capture in a new tab in your web browser. After that, choose your recording options, settings, and specify what you want to capture. Once you finish recording, you can watch the video, trim it, or completely re-record it before uploading.

Audio Requirements: To record audio, you will need either a built-in microphone or an external one. If your computer does not have a built-in microphone or if you are in a noisy environment, it is advisable to use a headset with a microphone to reduce background noise. Position the microphone approximately 6-8 inches from your mouth to avoid picking up breathing sounds. For headsets, place the microphone about 1 inch from the corner of your mouth. Before recording a full video, conduct an audio test to ensure that your sound is clear and audible during playback.
Video Requirements: To record video, you need either a built-in webcam or an external webcam. Make sure the camera rests at or slightly above eye level, and that you are centered in the video capture area.

Known Issues & Troubleshooting
- Allow your browser to use your camera and microphone: Most browsers need explicit permission to access your built-in or external webcam and microphone. Make sure to grant Mediasite Capture access to these devices; in most cases, you will receive pop-ups requesting access. On some macOS devices, you may need to go a step further and add Capture to your list of authorized apps in the device settings.
- Camera-only on mobile devices: Users can only create a camera-only recording using Capture on an iPhone or Android device. If you need to capture your screen, along with your camera and audio, you must use a computer.
- Recording screen share audio on a MacBook: If you're sharing your screen on a macOS laptop and need to capture audio in your recording (for example, if you're playing a video or demonstrating a webpage), please use Google Chrome. Currently, Safari and Firefox do not support audio capture during screen sharing.
