Solidworks 2024 Installation Instructions

Overview

These instructions will walk you through installing Solidworks 2024.

Requirements

This software is Windows only and is not compatible with macOS.

Instructions

1. Connect to the VPN via the application GlobalProtect at https://vpn.villanova.edu.  
2. Navigate to software.villanova.edu and sign in with your Villanova credentials, if prompted. 
3. In the Engineering Software tab, select Solidworks Education Edition and add it to your cart. 
4. Choose check out. 
5. Your information will populated, then "check the I’m not a robot" and choose to continue.  You will receive an email confirming your order. There should be no charge listed for the software. 
6. Click Download to be taken to the downloads page. Click Download again to begin downloading the software, which can take up to 45min depending on Internet speed.
7. Unzip the software. This is a crucial step because the installation will fail if it is not unzipped.
8. Click on startswinstall.exe or the web browser equivalent StartSWinstall.html (This will do an unattended install that can also take up to 45min)

10. Launch Solidworks while being connected to the VPN.
