STATA Installation Instructions for Mac

Overview

This document will show you how to install STATA on macOS.

Requirements

Internet connection, macOS 10.2 or newer.

Instructions

1. Navigate to software.villanova.edu and login. Click “Student Software,” then click “Student Software for Mac,” and then click on the link for “Stata”.
2. Your download should begin. Once completed navigate to your Downloads folder. Select Stata18.dmg and right click on it. Select ’Open With’ and then click Disk Manager.

3. Once complete, a window should appear like the one below. Double click “Install Stata”.

4. When another new window opens, click Continue.
   • Agree to the terms and conditions.
   • Click Next until the window below appears.
   • Select the box for Stata/SE.
     • NOTE: Villanova only has licenses for STATA SE
   • Next click Install. Enter your computer password if prompted.

5. Once the installation process is complete, a new Finder window will appear which you can close. Stata can now be opened from within Launchpad , or by searching ”Stata” in the Spotlight search
6. When opening Stata for the first time, you will be asked for license information. Enter the following information as shown in the image below, which is provided from the ‘Software Installation Keys’ button on the Software portal:
   • Organization: Villanova University
   • Serial number: Provided download page at software.villanova.edu.
   • Code: Provided download page at software.villanova.edu.
   • Authorization: Provided download page at software.villanova.edu.

7. Then click ‘Next’ and continue until finished. Stata will open automatically.
