Here are a few smart tips to help protect your data, devices and peace of mind while traveling.
Pre-Trip: Protect your tech
DO
- ✅ Back up your important files such as photos, contacts, and documents.
- ✅ Update your software to get the latest security patches.
- ✅ Enable screen lock and use a strong pin, passphrase or biometric lock to protect your devices.
- ✅ Turn on "Find My" to remotely track your device if lost or stolen.
DON'T
- ❌ Don't keep location settings enabled for apps that don't require it.
- ❌ Don't bring more devices than you absolutely need.
En Route: Stay smart on the go
DO
- ✅ Use a virtual private network (VPN), like GlobalProtect, to encrypt your internet connection.
- ✅ Disable auto-connect for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
- ✅ Carry an external battery or your own charging cable. Use an outlet instead of a public USB port.
- ✅ Lock sensitive documents and devices in a hotel safe whenever possible.
