Brightspace: Copy Content from Blackboard into Brightspace

Summary

Learn how to export a Blackboard course package and import it into Brightspace so you can transfer content from older Blackboard courses that were not included in Villanova’s automatic migration process.

Body

Overview

This article outlines the course copy process for exporting content from a Blackboard course and importing it into a Brightspace course. Please note that all courses from Summer '23 - Spring '26 will be imported to Brightspace by University Technology Services. If your course falls within this date range, there's no need to perform this action. If you would like to copy content from a course outside this range, please follow these steps.

Instructions

If you need a Blackboard course that is older than the Summer 2023 semester transferred into Brightspace please click on the button to the right to Submit a Blackboard Course Transfer Request. All Blackboard courses between Summer 2023 and Spring 2026 will be automatically transferred into the Brightspace LMS (you will not need to make a request for these courses). If you had instructor access to the course in Blackboard, you will have access to it in the Brightspace LMS.
