Meeting Patterns and Times

Body

Meeting Pattern

The combination of days and times a class meets (e.g., MWF 9:35–10:25).

Standard Meeting Pattern

Institutionally established day/time blocks intended to optimize room use and avoid conflicts.

Non-Standard Meeting Pattern

Any class meeting time that falls outside approved standard patterns.

Meeting Times

Contact Minutes / Contact Hours

The total instructional time delivered over the term, often required for accreditation and policy compliance.

Modality of Meetings

The method in which the course is conducting its meetings. Modality must be accurately coded because it affects room assignment, student expectations, and reporting and compliance.

Asynchronous

Course activity that does not require students and faculty to meet at a specific time.

Synchronous

Course activity that requires real-time participation at scheduled days and times (in person or online).
