Read a Webpage with ReadSpeaker TextAid

Learn how to set up ReadSpeaker TextAid Web Reading for your browser and use its toolbar to read selected webpage text aloud so you can access reading support on any website.

This article provides instructions on how to use ReadSpeaker TextAid Web Reading tools to read text on most web pages.

Instructions

Set Up Web Reading

1. Open ReadSpeaker TextAid from Brightspace. (Go to brightspace.villanova.edu and select ReadSpeaker TextAid under Villanova Resources)
2. Select Web Reading near the bottom-left corner of the screen.
3. Choose whether you are using a Computer or Mobile device.
4. Select your browser, such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to add the TextAid browser extension or Web Reader bookmark.

Note: Setup steps and available options may differ depending on your browser and device.

Read Text on a Webpage

1. Open the webpage you want to read.
2. Select the TextAid browser extension or Web Reader bookmark to open the reading toolbar.
3. Highlight the text you want TextAid to read.
4. Select the play or listen button.
5. Use the reading toolbar to perform available actions, such as:
   • Pause or resume reading
   • Replay text
   • Adjust the reading speed
   • Change the voice
   • Use additional reading-support tools
