Summary

Provides faculty instructions for submitting course details and preparing students for registration

Body

Overview

This article provides faculty instructions for submitting course details and preparing students for registration. Embedded courses pair a three-credit course with a required one-credit travel course co-requisite. Faculty should coordinate with their department chair to establish both courses and prepare approved students for registration.

Before You Begin

Provide the following information to your department chair:

  • Confirmation that special approval with a chairperson override is required.

  • Confirmation that the three-credit course has a one-credit co-requisite.

Three-Credit Course

  • Meeting time

  • Determine the course number in line with the University catalog that can serve as a topics course

  • Course title

  • Course description, including the travel location, travel dates, and cost

One-Credit Course

  • No meeting time

  • Modality: Study Abroad

  • Determine if the course number is a topic course or a designated course for travel.

Work with the Academic Scheduling team

  • Campus Code for both courses: Villanova

  • Instruction Mode: In-person (3 credit) and Study Abroad (1 credit)

Prepare for Registration

  1. Before registration begins, provide your department chair with a list of accepted students and their Student IDs for overrides to be entered on their behalf.

  1. Send any late acceptances to the department chair as they occur.

  1. Instruct students to register for the one-credit and three-credit courses at the same time.

Important: Students must register for both linked courses during the same registration transaction. Registration may not process correctly if a student attempts to add only one course.
