Brightspace: Using Creator+ Practices

1. At the top of your course page, from the blue course navigation bar, click Content.

2. Navigate to the Unit or Lesson you will be working in. 

3. Click the gray Create New button at the top of the page. 

4. Select Page from the next screen.

5. Click Creator+ Authoring Tools icon and select Insert Practices.

6. Click Dropdown Fill in the Blanks.

7. Add a Title, Short Description, and Instructions.

8. Add your Question Text. To create a blank space, type the word 'blank' and a number inside double square brackets, for example, [[blank1]]. 

9. Click Update Blanks.

10. Add the Correct Answer and at least one Incorrect Answer for each blank space. Use Add Incorrect Answer to add additional incorrect answers. To delete an answer, click the Trashcan icon.

11. In the How will this practice be scored? field, choose one of the following options:

• All or Nothing (default) - the question is scored out of one. The learner receives one point if they provide all correct responses or zero if they provide one or more incorrect responses.
• Correct Inputs - the question is scored based on the number of blanks. The learner receives one point for each correct response they provide.
• Right Minus Wrong Inputs - the question is scored based on the number of blanks. The learner receives one point for each correct response they provide. One point is deducted for each incorrect response they provide to a minimum score of zero.

12. A preview of the Practice appears to the right of the interface. You can check answers by clicking the blue button Check Answers.

13. If you would like the learner to have feedback on their answer, click on the gray Options button at the top of the screen and select Add Feedback. 

14. Additional text fields are now visible, directly below the How will this practice be scored? field. Enter Overall Correct and/or Incorrect Feedback as desired.

15. To view the Practice as a user would see it, click Preview.

16. Click Insert once you have finished editing the Practice.

17. Click the X button to close the Practice interface.

18. To edit the Practice, select anywhere in the Dropdown Fill in the Blank Practice box and select the pencil icon Edit. You can also use this panel to delete or move the Practice.

10. Enter at least one Correct Answer. Select if you would like the answer to be case sensitive or to use regular expression. Information on how to use regular expression is available.  Use Add Alternative Answer to add additional correct answers. To delete an answer, click the Trashcan icon.

11. In the How will this practice be scored? field, choose one of the following options:

• All or Nothing (default) - the question is scored out of one. The learner receives one point if they provide all correct responses or zero if they provide one or more incorrect responses.

16. Click Insert once you have completed the Practice.

17. Click the X button to close the Practice interface.

18. To edit the Practice, select anywhere in the Fill in the Blank Practice box and select the pencil icon Edit. You can also use this panel to delete or move the Practice.

7. Add a Title and Short Description. 

8. Add your Question Text. To add an image to your question, click Add Image > Choose File, navigate to the image location, and select it.

• To provide information for those with visual impairments, enter it into the Alternative Text field.
• Click the This Image is Decorative check box if the image does not convey any information needed to complete the question.
• Click Save.

9. Add Answers. Use the Add Answer link to add more answers. To delete an answer, click Delete (the trashcan icon). If needed, you can add an image to your answer by following step 7 above.

10. Select the correct answer(s) by clicking the box to the left. 

11. A preview of the Practice appears to the right of the interface. You can check answers by clicking the blue button Check Answers.

12. Select Randomize answer order if desired.

13. If you would like the learner to have feedback on their answer, or would like to add a hint or enumeration, click on the gray Options button at the top of the screen and select your preferred option(s).

14. Additional fields are now visible.

• Enter a question hint in the text field directly below the question text.
• You can enter Correct and/or Incorrect Feedback on each individual response option.
• Select Enumeration option. 
• Enter Overall Correct and/or Incorrect Feedback as desired.

15. In the How will this practice be scored? field, choose one of the following options:

10. Select the correct answer by clicking the radio button to the left of the response.

11. Select Randomize answer order if desired.

12. A preview of the Practice appears to the right of the interface. You can check answers by clicking the blue button Check Answers.

13. If you would like the learner to have feedback on their answer, or would like to add a hint or enumeration, click on the gray Options button at the top of the screen and select your preferred option(s).

14. Additional fields are now visible.

• Enter a question hint in the text field directly below the question text.
• You can enter feedback on each individual response option.
• Select Enumeration option. 
• Enter Overall Correct and/or Incorrect Feedback as desired.

15. To view the Practice as a user would see it, click Preview.

16. Click Insert once you have completed the Practice.

17. Click the X button to close the Practice interface.

18. To edit the Practice, select anywhere in the Multiple Choice Practice box and select the pencil icon Edit. You can also use this panel to delete or move the Practice.

7. Add a Title, Short Description, and Instructions.

8. To have the sequence numbered, click the Display Numeric Sequence check box.

9. Add a Sequence Step and Sequenceable Item for each Sequence Step. Additionally, you have the following options:

• There are four Sequence Steps by default.
• To delete a Sequence Step, click the Trashcan icon.
• To add additional Sequence Steps, click Add Sequence Step.

10. To add an image to a Sequence Step or Sequenceable Item, click Add Image > Choose File. Then navigate to the image location and select it.

• To provide information for those with visual impairments, enter it into the Alternative Text field.
• Click the This Image is Decorative check box if the image does not convey information.
• Click Save.

11. A preview of the Practice appears to the right of the interface. You can check answers by clicking the blue button Check Answers.

12. If you would like the learner to have feedback on their answer, click on the gray Options button at the top of the screen and select Add Feedback. 

13. Additional fields are now visible.

• You can enter Correct and/or Incorrect Feedback on each individual item.
• Enter Overall Correct and/or Incorrect Feedback as desired.

14. To view the Practice as a user would see it, click Preview.

15. Click Insert once you have completed the Practice.

16. Click the X button to close the Practice interface.

16. To edit the Practice, select anywhere in the Sequencing Practice box and click Edit. You can also use this panel to delete or move the Practice.

3. Click the gray Create New button at the top of the page. ​​​​​​​

4. Select Page from the next screen.

5. Click Creator+ Authoring Tools icon and select Insert Practices.

6. Click Sorting.

7. Add a Title, Short Description, and Instructions.

8. To indicate the total number of items in each category, click the Display Item Count per Category check box.

9. For each category, add a Category Label. Additionally, you have the following options:

• There are four categories by default.
• Use the arrow buttons to re-arrange the order of categories.
• To delete a category, click the Trashcan icon.

10. To add an image to a category, click Add Image > Choose File, navigate to the image location, and select it.

• To provide information for those with visual impairments, enter it into the Alternative Text field.
• Click the This Image is Decorative check box if the image does not convey any information required to understand the category.
• Click Save.

11. To add sortable items to a category, click the Category box and then enter the name of the item. Additionally, you have the following options:

• Each category has one sortable item by default.
• To delete a sortable item, click the Trashcan icon.
• To add additional sortable items to the category, click Add Sortable Item.

12. To add an image to a sortable item, follow step 9 above.

13. A preview of the Practice appears to the right of the interface. You can check answers by clicking the blue button Check Answers.

14. If you would like the learner to have feedback on their answer, click on the gray Options button at the top of the screen and select Add Feedback. 

15. Additional fields are now visible.

• You can enter Correct and/or Incorrect Feedback on each individual item as well as the overall category.
• Enter Overall Correct and/or Incorrect Feedback as desired.

16. To view the Practice as a user would see it, click Preview.

17. Click Insert once you have completed the Practice.

18. Click the X button to close the Practice interface.

19. To edit the Practice, select anywhere inside the Sorting Practice box and click Edit. You can also use this panel to delete or move the Practice.
