Overview
This article offers guidance on saving edits to a video presentation using the Mediasite web editor. You can choose to either overwrite the existing video or create a discrete sub-clip.
Device Requirements
For the best experience using the web editor, please first confirm that your device meets the minimum requirements outlined in our knowledge article "Mediasite: Web Editor".
Instructions
1. Log into your MyMediasite account: https://vums-web.villanova.edu/mediasite/mymediasite/
2. Select the Mediasite presentation you want to edit by clicking its title or thumbnail image.
3. Select Edit Video from the right-hand navigation bar to launch the web editor in a new browser tab.

4. Make your desired edits. Please see the documentation posted to the "Editing Video Content" section of our knowledge base.
5. Your edits will only take effect after you save them to your video presentation. There are two ways to save your edits:

- Save Video to Current... This save option overwrites the original video presentation with a newly edited version, without changing the link. You will be prompted to confirm that you want to do this. If necessary, you can restore the original version of the video presentation by following the instructions in the knowledge article, "Mediasite: Restore a previous version of your video".
- Save Video to New... This save option is similar to using the "Save As" function in word processing software. You will be able to create a new version of your presentation while keeping the original intact. You will be prompted to give the new version a title. Remember: Using "Save to New" will create a brand new presentation link.
6. After choosing your save method, the web editor will process your edits. If you click on the Video Save Jobs drop-down in the top-right corner of the web editor window (see top image below), you can watch the project move through a Queued state, to Working, then finally to a green Complete status (see bottom image below). Please do not close the web editor browser tab until your edits are complete, or they will not take effect.

Known Issues and Troubleshooting
- Minimum device requirements: To get the best web editor experience, your device must meet the minimum requirements outlined in our knowledge article "Mediasite: Web Editor".
- When I play back my video, I don't see my edits: Your edits will only take effect after you save them to your video presentation. Please refer to our knowledge article "Mediasite: Save your video edits" to learn how to apply your edits. Additionally, do not close the web editor browser tab until your edits are complete, or they will not take effect.
- My video jobs keep saying "Failed": The web editor operates entirely in the cloud, so ensure your browser is up to date and that you have a stable internet connection before attempting any edits. If you're using Wi-Fi and your edits aren't saving, try re-saving them when you have access to a wired connection.
- No "Save to New" option: It's possible your Mediasite content isn't yet compatible with this feature. Please contact the Multimedia Technologies team at support@villanova.edu to convert your content.
- Undo mistakes: To revert your most recent change, click the undo icon on the blue toolbar at the top of the window (see image below). If you need to roll back multiple changes, please refer to our knowledge article, "Mediasite: Restore a previous version of your video".
