Trimming the beginning of your presentation
Do you prefer video tutorials? Refer to the steps below, illustrated in our "Basic Web Editing" training video.
1. Start your presentation by pressing the play button to the left of the video window. To save time, you can click anywhere within the timeline, and your cursor will move to that section of the presentation.

2. Pause the presentation where you want it to begin. If needed, use the magnifying glass icon in the bottom left corner of the web editor to enlarge the timeline for greater precision.

3. Press and hold the cut handle, then drag it to the right. Release the cut handle when you reach your desired starting point.

4. To review your edit, restart the presentation from the beginning. If needed, adjust the cut handle again.
5. If you make a mistake, click the undo icon on the project management toolbar at the top of the window. If you need to roll back multiple edits, click the revision history icon (clock/arrow icon to the far right in the image below) to see your complete list of edits made.

Removing a section from the middle of your presentation
Do you prefer video tutorials? See the steps below illustrated in our "Basic Web Editing" training video.
1. Start your presentation by pressing the play button to the left of the video window. To save time, you can click anywhere within the timeline, and your cursor will move to that section of the presentation.

2. Pause your presentation right before the section you want to remove. If needed, use the magnifying glass icon in the bottom left corner of the web editor to enlarge the timeline for greater precision.

3. Press and hold the timeline cursor and drag it to the right. When you let go of the cursor, the cut will end there, and the section you want to remove will be highlighted in light blue.

4. Next, click on the “Cut Time” icon on the timeline toolbar to execute the cut. If needed, adjust the cut handles on either side of the cut.

5. If you make a mistake, click the undo icon on the project management toolbar at the top of the window. If you need to roll back multiple edits, click the revision history icon (clock/arrow icon to the far right in the image below) to see your complete list of edits made.

Saving your edit(s)
Do you prefer video tutorials? See the steps below illustrated in our "Basic Web Editing" training video.
1. Your edits cannot go into effect until you apply them to your presentation using the “Save Video” drop-down menu in the project management toolbar. There are three ways to save your edits:

- Save Video to Current: This option will replace your original presentation with a newly edited version, without changing the link. If necessary, you can restore the original unedited presentation later.
- Save Video to New: This option is similar to using the "Save As" function in word processing software. This option enables you to create a new version of your presentation while keeping your original version intact. You will be prompted to confirm that you want to replace the existing presentation with the edited version. NOTE: the presentation link will change when you "Save to New".
- Save Video to Existing: This option is very seldom used, but enables you to save your newly edited presentation to an existing blank Mediasite presentation.
2. After you choose a save method, the web editor will process your edits and save the new presentation. From the Video Save Jobs status in the top right corner of the window, you can watch the project move through a "Queued" state, to "Working", then finally a green "Complete" status. Please do not close the browser window until the edits have completed or your edits will not take effect.

3. After the web editor shows that your edits have been completed, you may close the browser tab and refresh your MyMediasite homepage: https://vums-web.villanova.edu/mediasite/mymediasite/
4. Click the “View” button next to the video to see how it will look to your audience with the new edits.
