This article explains how to enter grades manually in Brightspace.
Instructions
Access the Gradebook
- Navigate to the gradebook in your course.
Switch to Spreadsheet View
- For entering grades for many items and learners at once, click "Switch to Spreadsheet View."
Enter Grades
- In spreadsheet view, enter grades for the desired learners and grade items by typing them directly into the cells.
- Click "Save" after entering the grades to ensure they are shared with learners.
Return to Standard View
- Click "Switch to Standard View" to return to the standard view of your gradebook.
- This view provides additional icons such as "View Submission" and "View Discussion Posts" for more detailed grading tasks.
Enter Grades Individually
- To enter grades for individual learners, click on the learner's name.
- Enter the grade for the designated grade item.
- Click "Save and Close" to save the grades. The grades will then display in your gradebook.
Identify Grade Release Status
- Check the open and closed eye icons in the final grades column to see whether grades are released or not released to learners.
Grade Specific Grade Items
- Click the context menu (three dots) next to the grade item.
- Select "Grade All" to enter grades for all learners for that specific item.
Grade Categories
- To grade an entire category, click the context menu for the category and select "Grade All."
Integrated Grading
- If a grade item is associated with a course activity such as a discussion, assignment submission folder, or quiz, you can grade the activity directly within that tool.
- Publish the grades to your gradebook from within the respective tool.
