Zoom: How to Update Zoom

Laptop/Desktop Computer (Windows, Mac)

On your laptop/desktop computer, you can update Zoom from within the Zoom application by clicking on "Check for Updates" with these instructions.

You can also manually download the latest version by visiting the Zoom Download Center and clicking “Download” under Zoom Desktop Client.

If you receive the following message, you will need to uninstall your Zoom client and install a newer version.

Windows

  1. In the Windows search bar, search for Control Panel and select the Control Panel app.
  2. If Control Panel is set to Category view, click Uninstall a Program. Alternatively, if View by is set to Large or Small icons, click Programs and Features. 
  3. Select Zoom in the programs list, then click Uninstall.
  4. If prompted "Are you sure you want to uninstall Zoom?", click Yes.
  5. Once completed, download Zoom from the Zoom download center and reinstall

MacOS

  1. Open the Zoom desktop application.
  2. Select zoom.us at the top of your screen and select Uninstall Zoom.
  3. Select OK to confirm uninstalling the Zoom desktop application and all of its components.
  4. Once completed, download Zoom from the Zoom download center and reinstall.

Mobile Devices

On your mobile device, download the most recent version of the Zoom app following these instructions.

Updating Zoom Plugin for Microsoft Outlook

Open Microsoft Outlook and click on the "Home" tab. Find "Start Instant Meeting" and click on drop down arrow.  Click on "Check for updates..."

If you cannot update Zoom due to time constraints

You can quickly join the meeting through the web client. The web client does not have all the same functionality as the desktop client or mobile app, but is more than capable for attending a meeting.

Instructions on joining a meeting using the web client are available on the Zoom support site.
