Effective April 19, Comcast will cease support for Coaxial queue-to-queue technology throughout campus.
Changes to Campus Services and Systems:
- Comcast coaxial queue-to-queue technology to be discontinued
- Introduction of Comcast for Business TV service for academic and administrative areas
- Promotion of the XFINITY on Campus streaming service for residence hall students
Comcast for Business TV Service for Academic and Administrative Areas
After April 19, each television in academic and administrative areas that requires cable TV service will need to be equipped with a Comcast cable box. In order to avoid interruption of service, requests must be submitted via the ticket system by March 1st.
Change to Service Cost
There will be a monthly cost associated with each cable box, a change from the previous arrangement with the queue-to-queue system, which incurred no additional charges.
Change to Service Requirements
A wired Ethernet connection in close proximity to the television will be required to have cable service installed at the location.
Requesting Comcast for Business TV Service
To facilitate this transition, we have established a request form for each cable box. You can request installation by filling out the Comcast for Business TV request form.
XFINITY on Campus Streaming Service for Residence Hall Students
Effective April 19, Comcast will discontinue support for coaxial cable connectivity in all university residence halls. As a result, we encourage residence hall students to transition to the XFINITY On Campus streaming service, if they have not already done so.
