HecRas-5.03 install guide for Windows

Overview

This document will walk you through the installation process for HecRas-5.03.

Requirements

internet connection, egrportal access

Instructions

  1. Download HecRas-5.03 from egrportal.villanova.edu. You will have to select HecRas-5.03 from the software download drop down menu and then click download.
  2. Navigate to your Downloads folder in your File Explorer. Right click on HecRas-5.03.zip and select “Extract All…”.

 

  1. A new window will open. Do not edit the file path. Just click Extract. A new folder will appear after Windows does some processing.
  2. Once that is done, a new window will appear which will look like the image below. Double click on HEC-RAS_503 to begin the installation process.

  1. A “User Account Control” window may appear asking “Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?”. If so, select yes. You may need to enter your computer log-in credentials.
  2. You may also be prompted to install some additional software packages which are required for HecRas 5.03 to run. Hit install. If you are presented with the InstallSheild Wizard for HecRas instead, move to the next step.

  1. Next, the installer for HecRas 5.03 will open. Hit next and agree to the terms and conditions in order to proceed. You will then be asked where you would like to install HecRas 5.03. Keep the default location and hit next.

  1. Check the box that says: “Create a desktop shortcut”.

  1. Click next, and then click “Install” on the following screen. Click “Finish”. HecRas is now installed.
