Restoring your "Print to .PDF" feature in Word and Outlook

Problem: User receives an error that prevents them from printing to .pdf or converting an Office 365 document to .pdf.

Cause: Microsoft recently changed its default font from Calibri (used for the last 15 years) to the new Aptos font, which is not yet supported by Adobe Acrobat. Using the Print to PDF function may result in an error message like "Font: Aptos not found. Using Courier."  The print/conversion job may then fail. Font default fonts are usually changed automatically during Windows Updates.

Solution:  Modify print settings in the affected Office app, usually Word or Outlook.

Go to "File," then "Print," and then open the printer selection menu and select "Print to PDF."

Click "Printer Properties."

Then uncheck the option "Rely on System Fonts." Microsoft will no longer forcibly override documents' fonts with the new Aptos font.

Hover your mouse over this area to see details (shown on the right) about how this option works and why it causes the error.
