Malicious users engaging in social engineering attacks will use basic human psychology and try to pique their target's curiosity in order to compromise their information. This personalized type of attack relies on simple human error, so it is in most organizations' best interests to educate their employees to recognize and avoid social engineering attacks. Learn more about the various types of scams.

Tips to voiding social engineering scams:

  • Do not open any emails from untrusted sources. Contact a friend or family member in person or by phone if you receive a suspicious email message from them. 

  • Do not fall for offers of compensation in any form from someone you do not know. 

  • If it sounds too good to be true..... it most likely is!

  • Lock your laptop whenever you are away from your workstation.

  • Report the Phish
