Brightspace: How to Send an Email

Overview

This article will provide instructions on how to send an email from the Brightspace LMS.

Instructions

  1. In the blue Course Navigation bar, select Classlist. Note: You may need to select the option More first in order to see the option for your Classlist.

  1. If you would like to email the entire class, select the gray button Email Classlist.

  • From the Email Classlist screen, you can select whether to email everyone in the class (including TAs, co-instructors, etc.) or just the students by clicking on the appropriate tab at the top of the screen. The recipients of the intended message will populate based on your selection.

  • Click the blue button Send Email at the bottom of the page to compose your message.
  • Once you have composed your message, click the blue button Send for your email to be delivered.
  1. If you would like to select the users who will receive your email, check the boxes to the left of the user's Image and Name.
  • You can filter the users to just students by clicking on the tab Students, then checking the boxes of the intended recipients. 

  • If you have groups set up in your course, you can also filter by groups by selecting from the drop down menu View By, choosing Groups, then selecting Apply.

  • A new drop down menu will appear, allowing you to select which group you would like to email. Once you have chosen your group, select Apply again.

  • Once you have selected your recipients, click on the Email icon to compose your message.

  • Once you have composed your message, click the blue button Send for your email to be delivered.
