Overview
This article covers the calendar tool in Brightspace, including how to add an event.
Instructions
1. At the top of your course page, from the blue course navigation bar, click Calendar.

2. The calendar offers multiple view options:
- Use the Agenda view to group your course events by Date, Course, or Category; events are listed in chronological order.
- Use the Day, Week, and Month views to group your events in daily, weekly, or monthly increments.
- Use the List view to filter your events by Assignments, Checklists, Discussions, Grades, Materials, Modules, Quizzes, and Surveys.
3. Multiple course calendars can be viewed at once by selecting the drop down menu next to the calendar name and selecting Show All Calendars.

4. Content items, including Assignments and Quizzes, that have associated due dates or availability dates will automatically be displayed on the calendar.
5. The Import Events button will accept iCal files to import events into your course.
6. Users can add tasks to the calendar and associate a due date with them. When the tasks are completed, they can be marked as complete.
Adding an Event to the Calendar
1. At the top of your course page, from the blue course navigation bar, click Calendar.
2. Click the blue button Create Event.
3. The following fields are available to customize your event:
- To associate course content with the event, do the following:
- Click Add Content.
- Select the module from which you want to add content and click Add.
- Note: If you've associated course content with the event and want to use a custom name for the event, select the Use custom name check box and enter a name for your event.
- If you have not associated course content with the event, enter a name for your event.
- Add date and time details to your course event in the When area.
- To add recurrences to the event, click Add Recurrence.
- To add restrictions to the event, click Add Restriction.
- Enter in an associated Location of the event, if applicable.
