Game Rules: Spot the Phish with University Technology Services

Thank you for engaging with our table at the Graduate Student Community Kick-Off Picnic! Below are the rules associated with our Spot the Phish game.

The Game

Guess the number of "phish" in the jar. One jar is filled with Swedish Fish and the other is filled with Goldfish. You can choose to submit a guess for both jars or just one.

What is a "Phish"?

Phishing is a form of social engineering, when cyber criminals send official-looking emails attempting to fool you into disclosing sensitive information — such as usernames, passwords, banking account numbers, or social security numbers — or infecting your device with malware. Learn how to recognize and report phishing to protect yourself, protect your peers, and protect our University at villanova.edu/phishing.

Prizes

There will be two winners, one per jar.

  • The person who guesses the closest to the number of Swedish Fish will receive a $50 gift card to Wawa, located in the Connelly Center, as well as the jar of candy.
  • The person who guesses the closest to the number of Goldfish will receive a $50 gift card to the Bookstore (Barnes & Noble), located in St. Mary's Hall, as well as the jar of snacks.

The winners will be contacted via the email address provided on the form.

Rules

  • The person who guesses the closest, whether over or under the actual amount, is the winner.
  • In the event of a tie, the person who guesses the closet under the actual amount wins.
  • In the event that the same person has the closet guess for both jars, they will be asked to choose their preferred prize. The next closest person for the other jar will then become the winner of that prize.
  • Pick-up of prizes must be arranged in person, as a signature is needed on a form for the gift cards.
