iPad: Enrolling an iPad into Intune

Overview

This tutorial will go over the steps required to set up a Villanova-issued iPad.

Requirements

This document is intended for new Villanova-issued iPads that are automatically set to enroll in Villanova University management system.

Note: enrolling an iOS device is intended to be done by the owner/primary user of the device. Once enrolled, UTS cannot reassign the primary user and would require a reset/re-enrollment.

The screenshots below were taken from an iPad running iOS 26. Your experience may differ slightly if you are running an older iOS version.

Instructions

Select your language.

Select the appropriate locale.

Select the default icon appearance. This can be changed later in settings.

Choose to setup without another device.

Select a wireless network that has open Internet access.

Choose the option to not transfer anything.

The device will recognize that it is a Villanova issued device. Click the "Enroll this iPad" button.

Enter your password.

Complete the two factor authentication process.

The iPad will begin the device enrollment and configuration process.

Create a new 6 digit passcode. Using a passcode is a Villanova UTS security requirement and must be completed.

To use iCloud services, log in with an Apple ID.

If required, complete the Apple two factor authentication process.

Agree to the Terms and Conditions.

Turn on Location Services.

Choose an option for windowing. This can be changed later in settings.

Once the initial enrollment process completes, you will be directed to the home screen. Certain Villanova approved applications will be automatically installed, including Microsoft Defender, Teams, Company Portal, and Zoom.
