Outlook: Save an Email as a File on Your Computer

Overview

In Outlook, emails can be saved as files on your computer, making it easy to store important communications or share specific emails with others. Choose your Outlook client and follow the instructions below. 

Instructions

Outlook (Windows Desktop Client)

Outlook (Web Client)

  1. Right-click on the message you would like to save 
  2. Click Save as
  3. Navigate to where you would like to save your email file
  4. Click Save

Outlook (macOS Desktop Client)

  1. Double-click the message to open it in a new window
  2. From the menu bar, click File -> Save As
  3. Navigate to where you would like to save your email file
  4. Click Save
