vDesktop: Local Drive Passthough - Windows

Data can be saved directly to a storage device (i.e. local hard drive, removable storage) from within your vDesktop session.

Using the Citrix Workspace App with a Published Desktop

From within your published desktop, open Windows Explorer and click on This PC.  If prompted, chose the “Read/write access” option.

Look for local or removable drives that are similar to those highlighted below.  The name of your device will be listed for the drives being passed through.

If you are not prompted to allow read/write access, click the down arrow on the Citrix Workspace toolbar and select Preferences.

Click the File Access tab at the top and ensure either the first or last option is selected.

If you needed to make a change to allow the local disks to pass through into your vDesktop session, you will need to sign out and sign back in for the change to apply.


Using the Citrix Workspace App with a Published Application

From within your published application, choose the Save/Save As option.  In this example, SigmaPlot is being used as the published application.

When prompted, select the option to “Permit all access”.

Look for local or removable drives that are similar to those highlighted below.  The name of your device will be listed for the drives being passed through.

Using a Web Browser (Firefox, Chrome, Edge)

If your published desktops or applications launch directly in your browser, you can still save to your local device.  From within your session, click on the Save/Save As option.  Click “This PC” and locate the option to “Save To My Device”.

Name your file then click Save.

The file will be saved into the “Downloads” folder on your PC.
