vDesktop Citrix Apporto virtual-labs virtual-desktop

New for Fall Semester 2025

vDesktop through Apporto will be the primary virtual desktop environment for students and faculty. Citrix Workspace will still be available for select applications and use-cases.

Description

The vDesktop environment through Apporto provides secure access to university applications and the Villanova network. vDesktop is stateless, meaning that data is not persistent and, if needed, should be backed up in a location such as OneDrive.

The vDesktop environment may be helpful if you:

Teach a class that requires specialty software that cannot be installed on student computers
Are a student, looking to access the software required for coursework

Note: Some applications require the use of Citrix Workspace.
