Brightspace: How to Add/Delete a Module/Submodule

Overview

This article provides instructions on how to add a module and/or a sub-module in your Brightspace course.

Instructions

You can create modules and sub-modules for your course to provide a structure for your course. You can then add and organize your learning materials within this structure as part of Content. Note: Before you can add content to your course, you must first create a new module. You can also create sub-modules (modules within existing modules) to establish a deeper hierarchy.

To create a new module

  1. At the top of your course page, from the blue course navigation bar, click Content.
  2. In the Table of Contents panel on the left side of your course, click Add a module.
  3. Enter the name of your new module and then press Enter.

A new module is added to your Table of Contents and the module is opened for editing, including sub-modules and topics.


To create a sub-module

  1. Under Table of Contents, click a module.
  2. Click Add a sub-module.

  1. Enter the name of your new sub-module and then press Enter.

The sub-module is added to your module. You can upload, create, and add existing activities.


To delete a module or sub-module

  1. From the blue navigation bar, click Content.
  2. In the Table of Contents panel on the left, click the module or sub-module you want to delete.
  3. Next to the module or sub-module title, there is a caret that will open up a drop-down menu.

  1. Click Delete Module from the menu. Note: If you are deleting a sub-module, this action will only delete the items in the sub-module. 
  2. Decide whether you want to remove the module/sub-module from the Content view only or permanently delete the module/sub-module from the course (this will also delete all associated objects house within it, including discussions, quizzes, etc).
  3. Click Delete. The module or sub-module is deleted.
