Overview
This article provides instructions on how to add a unit and/or a lesson in your Brightspace course.
Instructions
You can create units and lessons for your course to provide a structure for your course. You can then add and organize your learning materials within this structure as part of Content. Note: Before you can add content to your course, you must first create a new unit. You can also create lessons to establish a deeper hierarchy.
To create a new unit
1. At the top of your course page, from the blue course navigation bar, click Content.
2. In the left panel on the left side of your course, click New Unit.
3. From the next page, enter the title of your new unit. You may also add a due date; this will automatically be added to the calendar.
4. You have the option to set availability dates and release conditions for the unit.
5. If you do not wish to configure your unit further, toggle the unit to Visible and click Save and Close.
To create a lesson
1. At the top of your course page, from the blue course navigation bar, click Content.
2. Navigate to the Unit you will be working in.
3. Click the gray Create New button at the top of the page.
4. Select Lesson from the next screen.
5. From the next page, enter the title of your new lesson. You may also add a due date; this will automatically be added to the calendar.
4. You have the option to set availability dates and release conditions for the lesson.
5. If you do not wish to configure your item further, toggle the unit to Visible and click Save and Close.
To delete a unit or lesson
1. From the blue navigation bar, click Content.
2. Navigate to the unit or lesson you want to delete.
3. At the top of the page, click the three dots icon to open a drop-down menu.
4. Select Delete from the menu. Note: If you are deleting a lesson, this action will only delete the items in the lesson.
5. Decide whether you want to remove the items from the Content view only or permanently delete them from the course (this will also delete all associated objects housed within it, including discussions, quizzes, etc).
6. Click Delete. The unit or lesson is deleted.
