Brightspace: How to Create an Announcement

Overview

This article covers how to create an announcement for your course. 

Instructions

  1. At the top of your course page, from the blue course navigation bar, click Course Admin.
  2. Under the category Communication, click Announcements.
  3. On the Announcements page, click the blue button New Announcement
  4. On the New Announcement page, enter your desired Headline and content. 

5. Enter Start and End Dates if you would like to restrict your announcement availability.

6. You are also able to Attach a File or Record an Audio or Video message

7. You can add a Release Condition if you would like students to meet a certain criteria before viewing the announcement.

8. Click the blue button Publish to add to your course. You can also Save as Draft if you would like to continue to work on it at a later time.

9. Once you have saved or published your announcement, you will be brought to the main announcement page. By clicking on the caret next to the announcement title, you can edit, delete, copy, or pin the announcement to the top or your announcements. 

10. You can also reorder the announcements by clicking on the gray More Actions menu.
