Overview
Multi-region DVD players are set to region 0, allowing them to play DVD discs from anywhere in the world. This gives you complete freedom in choosing your discs. Our multi-region DVD players also support Blu-ray discs and come in two types:
Multi-region Blu-ray/DVD Player with HDMI connectivity (a standalone player that connects to the classroom HDMI cable)

Multi-region Blu-ray/DVD Player with USB connectivity (a player that connects to a BYOD computer's USB port and supports playback within Zoom)

Copy Protection
All commercial DVD and Blu-ray discs are encrypted with either a Content Scramble System (CSS) or Access Content System (AACS), which is a form of Digital Rights Management (DRM). AACS encryption protects the data on the disc, while High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) safeguards the signal as it travels from the Blu-ray player to a system or display through connections like HDMI.
If your DVD does not display on the classroom projector, press and hold the source button on the classroom touch screen for 5 seconds to authorize HDCP. The text will change from "HDCP Off" to "HDCP On." This may involve the USB-C connection labeled blue, the HDMI connection labeled orange, or the MiniDisplay Port connection labeled yellow, depending on the player and connection used. Authorizing HDCP is necessary for DVD playback during presentations. Please note that DVD content cannot be recorded via Zoom or the University automated lecture capture system. Media Playback Tip
Many computers and mobile devices now include digital streaming and cloud-based media features. If you use one of these devices, you can utilize this feature instead of physical media players. Some popular alternatives include streaming services available through web browsers, cloud storage platforms like OneDrive and Google Drive for stored videos, and built-in media player applications on Windows and Mac computers. Digital content files can also be played directly from USB drives or accessed through institutional learning management systems.
To request a Multi-region Blu-ray/DVD Player with HDMI or USB connectivity for your classroom, please submit a ticket. You can also request a DVD Player by calling the Classroom Support Hotline at 610-519-7777, option 1.
