Classroom Technology

UNIT Classroom Technologies supports, services, and installs replacement equipment and new AV systems in all registrar-booked general classrooms. We also provide secondary support and AV consultation services for many college and department-operated classrooms, labs, conference rooms, and other venues on campus.

Onsite classroom support hours are Monday-Thursday 7AM-9PM and Friday 7AM-6PM. Weekend classroom support is by phone only.

If you need assistance with the classroom technology during class, please call UNIT’s TechZone at 9-7777 and select Option 2 for the Classroom Support Hotline. We can often resolve issues by phone, or a technician will be dispatched to provide immediate assistance.

Interactive Pen Display

Interactive Pen Displays are annotation devices that connect with the user’s computer and allow for on screen annotation. Currently, interactive pen displays are permanently located in some classrooms in Driscoll, Bartley, and Mendel Halls. Rooms without permanent interactive pen displays can be accommodated with mobile units. To request this service, submit a request for Interactive Pen Display.

Annotation Tip

Did you know many computers and mobile devices now have annotation features built into the operating system? If you use one of these BYOD devices, you can use this feature in place of an interactive pen display. Some popular devices with this integrated technology include:

Windows laptops with built-in stylus, Microsoft Surface, iPads with stylus, and various Android tablets with stylus. Annotation apps will need to be installed on the iPad and Android tablet. Some free and paid apps are available for mobile devices in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Document Camera

Document Cameras are devices that can project and magnify images of objects, paper notes, and transparencies. They replace transparency/overhead projectors and connect to the classroom AV system to utilize the classroom projector/display. To request this service, submit a request for Document Camera.
