Overview
As you prepare to graduate from Villanova University, it’s important to take steps to protect your files, email, and academic records before your student technology access ends.
After graduation, your Villanova student account will remain active for one (1) year. During this time, you will continue to have access to your Villanova email, Microsoft 365 (including OneDrive), and MyNova. After that year, access to these systems will be permanently discontinued.
This service provides guidance to help graduating students save important data, update accounts, and transition smoothly to alumni technology resources.
Important: Once your one‑year post‑graduation access period ends, your Villanova student email, OneDrive files, and licensed software are permanently removed and cannot be recovered.

What You Should Do Before Your Account Closes
Save Your Files
Download or move any files you want to keep from Villanova systems, including:
Tip: Transfer files to a personal cloud service (Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud) or an external hard drive to ensure long‑term access.
Preserve Important Emails
- Download or forward important emails (job offers, financial aid, projects, references).
- Set an auto‑reply letting recipients know your new personal email address.
- Create and begin using a professional personal email address.
Update External Accounts
If you used your Villanova email to create other accounts, update them to a personal email address. Examples include:
- LinkedIn
- Job‑search platforms
- Banking and financial apps
- Streaming or subscription services
- Social media and academic tools
Download Academic & Financial Records
- Unofficial transcript
- Tuition statements and billing records
- Loan documentation
- Internship or research materials
Prepare Your Devices
- Export browser bookmarks, passwords, and settings.
- Return any borrowed university equipment.
- Visit TechZone for device support while still eligible.
After Graduation: Alumni Account Access
After your student account closes, you can continue to stay connected through Villanova’s alumni resources via an Alumni Account, in addition to your personal email.
