Overview

What is it?

Sage Vantage is the digital learning platform from SAGE Publications for courses using an adopted Sage textbook. It delivers the eTextbook with embedded Knowledge Checks, assignable video activities, chapter tests, and instructor analytics in a single environment linked directly to Villanova's LMS.

Who is it for?

Faculty: Build a digital course around an adopted Sage title and pair it to your Villanova LMS course. Assign readings, Knowledge Checks, video activities, and Chapter Tests. Monitor student progress through the Vantage gradebook, synced to Brightspace.

Students: Access your Sage eTextbook and complete assigned activities through your LMS course link. A two-week grace period provides full access immediately upon clicking the link for the first time.

Access

Through the Sage Vantage link inside your Villanova Brightspace course (single sign-on). Faculty also manage courses directly at vantage.sagepub.com. Always launch from the LMS link, not directly from vantage.sagepub.com, to ensure account linking and grade sync work correctly.

Authentication

Separate Sage Vantage account required. Faculty and students create a Vantage account at vantage.sagepub.com using their Villanova email address. After this one-time account creation, clicking the LMS link in subsequent sessions handles authentication automatically via SSO.

Getting Started / Quick Start

Faculty / Instructor Setup

Create Your Vantage Course: Log in to vantage.sagepub.com with your Villanova email. Click Create a Course, search for your adopted Sage title, and complete the course details (title, section, start/end dates).
Configure Assignments: On page 2 of the course creation wizard, set default due dates, late submission policy, and gradebook settings.
Pair with Villanova LMS: In Brightspace: Go to Content > (add a new unit if necessary) > Add Existing > More > SAGE Vantage.
Add LMS Links: The LTI will launch your Sage Vantage account in a pop-up window. From there, you can select the course you’d like to add.

*Note - On gradable items, you will also see an option to sync grades. Select this if you wish for graded items in Sage Vantage to appear in your Brightspace gradebook.

Once you’ve finished selecting the items you want to link to Brightspace, select Continue.
Verify Grade Columns: Confirm that grade columns appear in the Brightspace gradebook after pairing. Use Student Preview/Student View mode to test a link before the semester begins.

Student Setup

Click the Sage Vantage link in your Villanova Brightspace course. Create a Sage account using your Villanova email if you don't already have one. Your LMS and Vantage accounts link automatically.
The two-week grace period begins immediately, access all content and submit up to three Chapter Tests. To continue after the grace period, purchase access through the Villanova Bookstore (Inclusive Access), directly at vantage.sagepub.com, or using an access code bundled with your textbook.
Complete assigned activities through the LMS links in your course. Grades sync to your Brightspace gradebook automatically.
