Overview
Mediasite podcasts provide an audio-only version of the spoken content in a video presentation. Downloading a podcast can help you review lecture content, search for key concepts, create study notes, and access course materials in an alternative format.
This article explains how students can download available podcasts from Mediasite presentations found on a channel page.
Before You Begin
📌Note: Podcast downloads are only available when:
- The presentation includes an audio track, and
- The presentation owner has enabled podcast access and downloads.
If you do not see a podcast option, it may not be available for that recording.
Instructions
I. Open the Channel
1. Navigate to the Mediasite channel link provided by your instructor.
2. After the page loads, locate the video you need to download the audio for. If there are many videos, you may need to use the page navigation at the bottom of the screen.
II. Download the Podcast
1. Click the triple dots (â‹®) in the bottom right-hand corner of the Mediasite presentation and select Downloads from the menu that pops up.
3. Next, click on the provided Audio (.mp3 podcast) hyperlink, and save the audio file to your local device when prompted.
III. Open the Downloaded Audio File
1. Open the Downloads folder on your device, or the folder where you saved your audio file. If you're unsure, reopen your web browser and navigate to the Downloads section to see where it was saved.
2. Open the saved audio file with your preferred audio player.
Known Issues & Troubleshooting
- I do not see an option to Download Podcast: This can happen if the presentation does not include an audio track​​​​​​, or access has not been enabled by the content owner. Try refreshing the webpage or reopening the presentation in another supported browser (list here). If this still doesn't work, contact your instructor to inquire if a podcast needs to be enabled.
- The audio file downloaded but will not open: Try opening the file with a different taudio player, and/or saving and downloading the audio file again. Confirm that the download completed successfully and wasn't interrupted or canceled.
