Biovia Discovery Installation

Overview

This document will walk you through the download and installation process of the software Biovia Discovery - DS41.

Requirements

PC, Activation Key (provided), internet browser, internet access, about 10 mins

Note: The Biovia Discovery application is not provided for Mac devices.

Instructions

  1. Navigate to the Engineering Portal at egrportal.villanova.edu and log in.
  2. Expand ‘Software Download Links’ and click ‘Download’ for Biovia Discovery - DS41.
  3. The software will automatically begin downloading and should take 3-5 minutes depending on your internet speed.
  4. Once finished downloading, open the Downloads folder in File Explorer to locate the .zip folder, which is labeled with the software name.
  5. Right-click on the folder and select ‘Extract All…’ then click ‘Extract’ to confirm.

  1. The extracted (unzipped) files will be placed in a folder with the same name as the .zip folder.
  2. Once the contents are extracted, navigate to the unzipped folder (this will appear as a normal folder icon without a zipper, like in the below image).

  1. Find ‘DS41Client’ or ‘DS41Client.exe’ and right-click, then select ‘Run as Administrator.’
  2. The Biovia DS41 installer will be extracted and open automatically.
    • Click ‘Next’
    • Ensure the file installation location. Unless you intend to place the program files in a specific folder location, keep the default installation location, then click ‘Next’ again.
    • Click ‘Install’ to begin installation. This should take 2-3 minutes.
    • Once the installation is complete, click ‘Finish’ to exit the installer.
  3. To open the Discovery Studio (DS), double-click on the shortcut automatically created on your Desktop, or type ‘Discovery Studio’ in the Windows search bar.
