MatLab R 2021a installation guide for Windows

Overview

This document will walk you through the installation process for MatLab R 2021a.

Requirements

Computer with windows 10, internet connection, software portal access

Instructions

  1. Download MatLab R 2021a from egrportal.villanova.edu. You will have to select MatLab R 2021a from the software download drop down menu and then click download.
  2. Navigate to your downloads folder in your file explorer. Double-click on “matlab_R2021a_win64” to begin the install process.

  1. A new folder will appear in your downloads folder. Do nothing until this download completes. You may be presented with a “User Account Control” window. If so, select yes. You may need to enter your computer credentials.
  2. If a windows security alert pops up saying that “Windows Defender Firewall has blocked some features of this app” Click allow access.
  3. Once that is completed, you will be presented with the window below. If you have a MathWorks account already, enter in the associated email address. If not, click “Create one!” to create an account.

  1. Enter your personal information into the boxes below and hit continue. Follow the instructions on the next page how to make a secure password for your MathWorks account

  1. Open your email and verify your MathWorks account, accept the verification and hit continue. On the next screen, accept the terms and conditions. Next you will see a screen prompting you for a license. If there is a license, hit next. If a license does not show up for you, contact your IT administrators.

  1. Click next until you see the screen below. Tick the indicated box with the orange arrow and hit next. Then, tick the box that says “Add shortcut to desktop”, hit next, and hit begin install. This will begin the install process, which will download and install MatLab and all its packages. This may take some time. Please leave your computer connected to a power source and turned on.

  1. When the installer is complete, click done. MatLab can now be launched from the icon on your desktop.
