SPSS: v29 Installation Installation Instructions

Overview

This document will walk you through the download and installation process of statistical analysis software IBM SPSS Statistics v29 on PC. 

Requirements

PC, Activation Key (provided), internet browser, internet access. 

Instructions

1. Navigate to software.villanova.edu. 

2. Expand ‘Student Software for PC.’ 

3. Click on the link for ‘SPSS v29.’ The software will automatically begin downloading and will likely take several minutes depending on your internet speed. 

4. Once finished downloading, single-click on the downloaded file in your browser downloads, or double-click in your Downloads folder (shown below). 

5. You will be prompted about whether you want the application to make changes to your computer. Click ‘Yes.’ 
6. The installer will automatically open. 

• Click ‘Next’ > ‘Accept the terms in the license agreement’ > click ‘Next’. 
• Ensure the Destination Folder location. Unless you have a particular folder you want to place the file in, keep this set to the default location. 
• Click ‘Next’ again > click ‘Install.’ 
• The installation should take about 3-5 minutes. Once done, click ‘Finish.’ 

7. The SPSS Licensing application will open automatically. If not already, select ‘Authorized user license,’ then click ‘Next.’ 

8. You will be prompted for a code to license the software. 

9. Return to software.villanova.edu in your internet browser. Scroll down and click ‘Software Install Activation Keys.’ Open the document if it does not open automatically. 

10. In the ‘Enter Code’ field of the SPSS Licensing application, enter the code listed for PC software SPSS v29 from the activation key document. This document is located on the software portal page. 

11. Click ‘Add’ so that the license code moves to the second box. Then click ‘Next.’ 

12. You should see an authorization status in green at the end of the message saying ‘Successfully processed all codes.’ If you do not see this, click ‘Back’ and ensure your licensing code is correct. Otherwise, click ‘Next’ again. 

13. Finally, hit ‘Finish.’ 

14. SPSS should be successfully installed. You can access the application either through the shortcut created on your Desktop or by looking up ‘SPSS’ in the Windows search bar.
