In Cognos you can view reports in a browser, or depending on your permissions, you can generate reports in formats that can be imported into other applications. Authorized Cognos users can run reports in delimited text (CSV), PDF, Microsoft Excel spreadsheet (XLS), or XML formats. There are multiple procedures you can follow to make your choice(s).
