Mediasite Capture: Getting Started

Overview

This article describes how to set up, record, and upload a screen recording on your device without installing any additional applications. Start by creating an In-browser presentation in MyMediasite, then launch Mediasite Capture in a new browser tab. After that, choose your recording options, settings, and specify what you want to capture (e.g., display, screen, or both). Once you finish recording, you can watch the video, trim it, or completely re-record it before uploading it to Mediasite.

Known Issues & Troubleshooting

  • Allow your browser to use your camera and microphone: Most browsers need explicit permission to access your built-in or external webcam and microphone. Make sure to grant Mediasite Capture access to these devices; in most cases, you will receive pop-ups requesting access. On some macOS devices, you may need to go a step further and add Capture to your list of authorized apps in the device settings.
  • Camera-only on mobile devices: Users can only create a camera-only recording using Capture on an iPhone or Android device. If you need to capture your screen, camera, and audio, you must use a laptop or PC.
  • Recording screen share audio on a MacBook: If you're sharing your screen on a macOS laptop and need to capture audio in your recording (for example, if you're playing a video or demonstrating a webpage), please use Google Chrome. Currently, Safari and Firefox do not support audio capture during screen sharing.
