Overview
Accommodations are a means of allowing individual students extra time to complete a quiz or assignment. For purposes of this document, quiz also means test or exam. This page details how to set up accommodations in Brightspace.
Instructions
Accommodations may be set up for students through the Classlist, and accommodations set there will carry forward for all quizzes. The Special Access item allows you to set individual accommodations for both quizzes and assignments. Accommodations set through Special Access are valid only for that one quiz or assignment.
Note: Special Access settings on an individual quiz will override accommodations set up through the Classlist.

Accommodations for Assignments
- To set up accommodations for a student, begin by creating a new assignment. Go to the module or location in your course where you would like the assignment, click Upload/Create, and select New Assignment.

- Complete the assignment details, including the name, point value if graded, and grade book settings. On the right side of the screen, expand Availability Dates and Conditions, then locate Special Access.

- On the Manage Special Access screen, choose whether users with special access can submit the assignment outside the normal availability dates or whether only users with special access can see the assignment. Add the student who needs special access.

- After completing the Special Access settings, click Save and Close. Under Availability Dates and Conditions, the Special Access area will now show that a user has special access.
