Overview

What is it?

Pearson MyLab & Mastering is a family of subject-specific digital learning platforms covering mathematics, statistics, science, economics, business, English, nursing, and many other disciplines. Faculty create a course on the Pearson platform, and students access it directly through their Brightspace course using Pearson's Access Pearson LTI integration.

Each platform (MyMathLab, MyStatLab, MyEconLab, Mastering Chemistry, Mastering Physics, MyNursingLab, etc.) is tailored to its discipline with publisher-developed question banks, adaptive study plans, tutorial support, and eTextbook integration. Grades pass back automatically to the LMS gradebook.

Who is it for?

Faculty: Create a Pearson course for your adopted title, configure homework assignments, set due dates and point values, deploy course content into Brightspace, and have grades sync automatically.

Students: Access Pearson content through the LMS course link. Complete homework, take practice tests, work through adaptive study tools, and read the eTextbook, all from within the LMS.

Access

Access through the MyLab & Mastering link in your Brightspace course (single sign-on). Faculty also manage courses at pearson.com/mylab.

Authentication

Separate Pearson account required. Faculty and students create a Pearson account and link it to their LMS account through a one-time SSO process the first time they click the course link.

Available for courses where faculty have adopted a Pearson MyLab or Mastering title. Contact your Pearson Customer Success Representative to set up an instructor account and course.

Getting Started / Quick Start

Faculty / Instructor Setup

Contact your Pearson Customer Success Representative to request an instructor account and set up your course for the adopted title.
Create your MyLab or Mastering course online. Configure your learning path, set up assignments, and set due dates and point values.
To add Pearson resources to Brightspace, go to Content > select or add a modlue then click on Add Existing > More > Pearson Links.
Click the link to launch the Pearson course pairing wizard. Log in with your Pearson instructor account. Select your course and click Pair.
Set up grade sync: In your Pearson course, click the Grade Sync tab. Select the assignments you want synced to the LMS gradebook and confirm grade columns appear in the LMS.
Inform students to use the LMS link (not pearson.com) to register and access Pearson content. Enable pop-ups in Chrome or Firefox. Share the student registration instructions provided by Pearson.

Student Setup

Click the MyLab & Mastering link in your LMS course (Brightspace). Pop-ups must be enabled. If prompted, allow pop-ups from brightspae.villanova.edu.
Create or log in to your Pearson account. Link your Pearson and LMS accounts (one-time step). Enter your access code or purchase access if not enrolled in Inclusive Access.
Complete assignments through the LMS link. Grades will sync to the LMS gradebook after your instructor configures grade sync.
