Mediasite: Make my classroom recordings available by default

Overview

By default, Mediasite classroom recordings are set to Private after upload, unless the instructor specifically requests that recordings be made viewable automatically. Instructors can request this change via two methods:

1. Request that setting during opt-in
2. Request that setting after opt in using the directions below

IMPORTANT: Instructors must provide students with a link to the recordings; merely unlocking the content does not make it accessible. Instructions

1. Open the Technology Services support page: https://support.villanova.edu

2. Navigate through the Service Catalog to Service Catalog  Technology Services  Academic Technology  Multimedia Technologies  ​​​​​​​Mediasite

3. Click on the button for "Submit Request to Make Lecture Recordings Automatically Available to Students".

4. Enter the name, number and section of your course(s) in BIO 1234-567 format. Please provide as much detail as possible to ensure your request is fulfilled correctly.

5. Lastly, single-click the blue "Submit" button at the bottom left-hand side of the page to submit your request.

Known Issues & Troubleshooting

• Students still can't see my lecture recordings: Even if you unlock your content, you still need to post a link to your course page for students to access. For more information on sharing your Mediasite content with students, please refer to our guide, "Mediasite: Sharing classroom lecture recordings with your students".
• Locking recordings on-the-fly: To make a recording Private and hide it from students, please refer to the knowledge article, “Mediasite: Understanding "Who Can View?" settings”.
