Overview
This article provides guidance on how to unlock and share a Mediasite video recording, often referred to as a "presentation." You can share a Mediasite presentation in several ways: by distributing a direct link, embedding the video on a webpage, or posting it to a learning management system (LMS) such as Blackboard or Brightspace (D2L). Mediasite offers flexible sharing options, including QR codes, to cater to different audience types. Examples of audience types include students, faculty, external guests, or specific individuals at Villanova.
Mediasite sharing occurs in three steps:
- Setting the appropriate viewing permissions (who can access the video).
- Obtaining the presentation link.
- Distributing the link (how you share it with your audience).
Instructions
Step 1 of 3: Set the viewing permissions on your Mediasite presentation
1. Log in to your MyMediasite account with your Villanova credentials: https://vums-web.villanova.edu/mediasite/mymediasite/
2. Select the presentation from your list of available video content by single-clicking on its title.
3. Next, locate the “Who Can View?” slider within the right-hand menu (see image below).
4. Click and hold the slider with your mouse cursor to adjust it to the setting that best suits your specific needs. To understand the meaning of each of these settings, please refer to the article, "Mediasite: Understanding "Who Can View?" settings".

Step 2 of 3: Copy the share link to your Mediasite presentation
1. Click the "Share Presentation" button in the right-hand menu.

2. After the "Share Presentation" pop-up window appears, copy the full “Quick Link” provided.

Step 3 of 3: Distribute the share link to your audience
Are you an instructor who wants to share a full semester of lecture recordings with your students (not just a single video)? Please refer to our guide, "Mediasite: Sharing classroom lecture recordings with your students".
The "Quick Link" you copied in the previous step can now be shared via email, embedded on a webpage, or posted to a learning management system (LMS) such as Blackboard or Brightspace (D2L). If you need additional assistance posting a Mediasite link to your course, reach out to Learning Technologies.
