Overview
Before using WeVideo to create and publish interactive videos, you must first activate your account through Brightspace. This process establishes your access and verifies your connection to Mediasite content.
Requirements
- Please see the device requirements listed in our knowledge article, "WeVideo: Overview".
- You must be a current Villanova faculty or staff member with access to Brightspace and Mediasite
- If prompted, please have your mobile device handy for a Duo push notification during Villanova single sign-on. For more details, please refer to "Duo: Getting Started".
Instructions
Step 1: Launch WeVideo from Brightspace
1. Log in to your Brightspace account with your Villanova credentials: https://brightspace.villanova.edu/d2l/login
2. Navigate to your course and click on the Content tab.
3. Open an existing unit or page (or create a new one), then click the Add Existing button.
4. On the "What would you like to add"? page, select More.
5. Scroll to the Third Party section and select WeVideo Interactivity.
Step 2: Complete Initial Account Activation
When the Set Content Link window appears, click Set Link.
Step 3: Verify Access and Integration
1. Click the Create New Interactive Video button.
2. Click Set Content Link again when prompted.
3. Select the Mediasite option.
4. Confirm the following:
- The correct Mediasite account ID is displayed. Mediasite account IDs use your shortened username, not your firstname.lastname email (e.g., gwash01 vs. george.washington)
- You can see the presentations you own or that you have read/write access to.
Known Issues & Troubleshooting
WeVideo Technical Requirements: As WeVideo is completely cloud-based, ensure your internet browser is updated before creating or viewing any content on WeVideo. Additionally, ensure your device meets the requirements listed in our knowledge article, "WeVideo: Overview"
Correct Mediasite Viewing Permissions Set: If the content isn't open to My Organization or Everyone, it will not be accessible via WeVideo.
I can't see my Mediasite presentation(s): If you do not own the presentation(s), you will not be able to see them until you're made an authorized Shared User. For assistance setting this up, please submit an "Other (create a folder, add shared users)" request here: Submit Mediasite Request.
Search tip for users with a lot of content: To perform a multiple character wildcard search use the "*" symbol. Multiple character wildcard searches look for 0 or more characters. For example, to search for test, tests or tester, you can use the search: test* You can also use the wildcard searches in the middle of a term, such as: te*t
