Overview

WeVideo is a cloud-based platform designed to support and enrich teaching, learning, and collaboration. As a browser-based tool, it requires no special hardware or software and is compatible with both Windows and macOS, integrating seamlessly with Mediasite and the Brightspace LMS.

Instructors can utilize interactive features such as multiple-choice and true/false questions, free-response questions, clickable hotspots, and opportunities for peer feedback.

WeVideo also enables meaningful feedback through auto-grading and supplemental materials like external links, images, and audio files. Its analytics tools track viewer engagement and understanding, facilitating targeted follow-ups. Personalized learning paths using branching logic can especially benefit asynchronous or hybrid courses.

  • Latest version of the Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, or Microsoft Edge web browser
  • Broadband Internet (preferred) or a very strong Wi-Fi connection

  • Latest version of the Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, or Safari web browser
  • Broadband Internet (preferred) or a very strong Wi-Fi connection

User Requirements

  • You must be a current Villanova faculty or staff member with a valid Villanova University-issued email address 
  • You must have an active Brightspace account
  • You must have an active Mediasite account with content created and available to use
  • If prompted, please have your mobile device handy for a Duo push notification during Villanova single sign-on. For more details, please refer to "Duo: Getting Started"

Known Issues & Troubleshooting

WeVideo Technical Requirements: As WeVideo is completely cloud-based, ensure your internet browser is updated before creating or viewing any content on WeVideo. Additionally, ensure your device meets the minimum requirements listed above.

I can't see my Mediasite presentation(s): If you do not own the presentation(s), you will not be able to see them until you're made an authorized Shared User. For assistance setting this up, please submit an "Other (create a folder, add shared users)" request here: Submit Mediasite Request

I need to change my existing free plan to Villanova's existing school license: If you're a current Villanova faculty or staff member with a valid Villanova University-issued email address, and when you log into https://www.wevideo.com/class#myaccount, you see "Free Basic" under your name, please contact support@villanova.edu to receive an invite code.

Users with multiple Villanova accounts: Administrators and technologists who require multiple email accounts for their roles (e.g., PCA accounts) need to ensure that each of their accounts has equal read and write access to the Mediasite content necessary for their work.
