What is it?

WeVideo is a cloud-based interactive media assessment platform that integrates with Mediasite, YouTube, Vimeo, and Brightspace, Villanova University's learning management system. It enables users to create, edit, collaborate on, and publish video content without the need to install any software. The platform operates entirely in a web browser or through the WeVideo mobile app, making it accessible on any device, whether it’s a Mac, Windows PC, Chromebook, or iOS, or Android. Additionally, WeVideo requires no local storage or processing power.

Through WeVideo's interactivity feature, users can layer interactive questions, polls, and discussions directly onto existing video content. The interactive videos you create in WeVideo are assignable through Brightspace, with automatic grade pass back and learner analytics.

Who is it for?

Faculty: Create, edit, collaborate on, and publish interactive video content using existing videos from Mediasite, YouTube, or Vimeo. Additionally, you can track student engagement and completion through built-in analytics. By assigning WeVideo interactive videos as graded assignments in Brightspace, you can facilitate automatic grade pass back.

Students: Complete interactive video activities assigned through your Villanova LMS course. No software download required.

Getting Started / Quick Start

Faculty / Instructor Setup

Log in to your Brightspace account with your Villanova credentials: https://brightspace.villanova.edu
Activate your Account: In Brightspace go to Content > module > Add Existing > More and select WeVideo Interactivity. When the Set Content Link windo appears, click Set Link.
Verify Access and Integration: Click the Create New Interactive Video button. Click Set Content Link again when prompted. Select the Mediasite Option and Confirm the following: The correct Mediasite account ID is displayed. Mediasite account IDs use your shortened username, not your firstname.lastname email (e.g., gwash01 vs. george.washington)

Student Setup

For interactive video: click the WeVideo Interactivity link inside your Villanova Blackboard or Brightspace course. Watch the video and respond to the embedded questions at each checkpoint. Your score syncs automatically to the LMS gradebook.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Villanova users need to purchase a WeVideo subscription?

No.The institutional license covers all Villanova user access. Users should not sign up for a personal WeVideo account or subscription. Contact Multimedia Technologies if you cannot access WeVideo through your Villanova credentials.

How do user responses to graded interactive video assignments get into Brightspace?

When assigned via the WeVideo Interactivity LTI tool in Brightspace, grades sync automatically with the gradebook when students complete the activity.

Can users collaborate on WeVideo content?

Yes, WeVideo allows for real-time collaborative editing, enabling multiple users to work on the same project simultaneously from different devices. Additionally, it supports the assignment of interactive content to more than one LMS course.
