Description
Microsoft Power Automate is a workflow automation tool included with your Villanova Microsoft 365 account. It lets you build automated workflows, called flows, that connect the apps you already use, so routine tasks happen on their own instead of by hand.
Common uses include:
- Saving email attachments from Outlook to a OneDrive or SharePoint folder
- Routing documents or requests for approval
- Collecting Microsoft Forms responses into a SharePoint list or Excel file
- Posting notifications or reminders to a Microsoft Teams channel
Power Automate is available in two tiers:
- Standard: included with your Microsoft 365 account. Flows can use standard connectors such as Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Excel, and Forms.
- Premium: an add-on license that unlocks premium connectors (such as SQL Server, HTTP requests, Dataverse, and custom connectors), desktop flows for automating tasks on your computer, AI Builder, and higher daily usage limits.
You can start building flows at make.powerautomate.com by signing in with your Villanova credentials. Microsoft also provides ready-made templates to help you get started quickly.
If any step in a flow uses a premium connector, the flow requires a Premium license. Premium connectors are marked with a Premium label in Power Automate.
Audience
Villanova University faculty, staff, and students with an active Microsoft 365 account. Premium licenses are available to faculty and staff whose department funds the license.
