Mediasite: Make my classroom recordings available by default

Overview

Making your Mediasite recordings automatically available saves you from having to manually unlock them after each class. We also recommend prominently posting a link to your Mediasite channel on your LMS course page to help students easily access your content.

By default, Mediasite classroom recordings are set to Private after upload, unless the instructor specifically requests this change via one of two methods:

1. Request the setting during opt-in
2. Request the setting after opt in, using the directions below

Prerequisite(s)

• You must opt into Classroom Lecture Capture (CLC) for your course(s) at https://villanova.edu/recordmyclass (we cannot apply permission changes if your course isn't scheduled yet)

Instructions

1. Visit the Villanova support page: https://support.villanova.edu

2. Navigate through the Service Catalog to Mediasite: Service Catalog  Technology Services  Academic Technology  Multimedia Technologies  Mediasite

3. Click on the button for Submit Request to Make Lecture Recordings Automatically Available to Students.

4. Enter the name, number, and section of your course(s) in SUBJ 1234-567 format. Please provide as much detail as possible to ensure your request is fulfilled correctly.

5. Lastly, single-click the blue Submit button at the bottom left-hand side of the page to submit your request.

Known Issues & Troubleshooting

• I made my recordings viewable to "My Organization", but my students still can't see them: Even if you unlock your content, you still need to provide a link for students to access. For more information on sharing your Mediasite content with students, please refer to our guide, "Mediasite: Sharing classroom lecture recordings with your students".
• Locking recordings on-the-fly: To quickly make an individual recording Private and hide it from students, please refer to the knowledge article, “Mediasite: Understanding "Who Can View?" settings”.
