File Recovery

OneDrive file recovery is limited to Microsoft's native retention capabilities. Deleted or modified files are recoverable for a maximum of 93 days. After this period, files are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered by UTS or Microsoft.

  • OneDrive Sync client configuration guidance (Windows and macOS)

File Recovery & Retention

  • Recycle Bin restoration
  • Version History recovery for modified or overwritten files
  • Point-in-time recovery using Restore Your OneDrive
  • UTS-assisted recovery within Microsoft's 93-day retention window

Configuration & Administration

  • Sharing and external access configuration
  • Permission and access troubleshooting

Unsupported Features

The following features and services are not provided by UTS:

  • Recovery of files deleted more than 93 days ago
  • Recovery of data beyond Microsoft's retention limits
  • Third-party backup, archiving, or recovery solutions
  • Recovery of files deleted before OneDrive was enabled for an account
  • Development of custom sync, automation, workflow, or integration solutions
  • Support for personal or non-university OneDrive accounts
  • Guaranteed recovery within a specific timeframe
  • Recovery of permanently deleted files after Microsoft's retention period expires
