WeVideo: Branched Learning

1. Follow steps 1-6 in the knowledge article, "WeVideo: Create interactive assessments using an existing Mediasite video," to prepare your interactive video assignment for branching.

2. Click on the Review tab.

3. Expand Playback Options.

4. Enable the following settings:

• Allow learners to skip interactions
• Allow viewers to fast forward

📌 Note: These settings are required to allow learners to move freely between different branches of the video.

5. Add an interaction (e.g., multiple choice or poll question) at the desired point in the video.

6. Click the next to a specific answer, then Add Jump from the drop-down menu.

7. Enter the timestamp where learners should be directed based on their answer choice.

8. Repeat the process for each answer choice you want to branch.

📌 Note: If an answer choice does not have a jump configured, learners will continue through the video without branching.

9. To add branching to a check-all or fill-in-the-blank question, expand the Advanced settings and enable:

• Jump if the user answers correctly
• Jump if the user answers incorrectly

10. Enter the appropriate timestamps for each outcome and click Save to apply your changes.

11. Place your cursor at the point on the timeline where you want the branching button to appear. Select the + Create New Interaction button and add a Pause interaction at the desired point in the video.

12. In the Untitled question field, type in the text you want displayed on the button. If you want to add multiple buttons, leave a line in between each button to ensure enough space.

📌Tip: Use clear, action-oriented text (e.g., “Go to Advanced Topic”, "Skip Ahead") to guide learners effectively.

13. Next, highlight the button text with your cursor and click the Jump icon in the rich text editor.

14. In the Insert Jump pop-up window, enter the desired timestamp to which you want the button to redirect viewers when clicked.

15. Next, change the styling to Primary Button and select the button's color from the default choices, or use the color picker.

⚠️Note: to use this feature, you must have already added feedback to an answer by clicking the next to it, then Add Feedback from the drop-down menu.

16. Click anywhere into the text of your feedback, then the Jump icon in the rich text editor.

17.  Follow Steps 14 and 15 in the "Create Branching with Buttons" section above.

18. Click the Review tab, then Preview to review your interactive video and ensure all jumps and timings function correctly.

19. Update the Privacy setting to either "Interactive video is public" or "Interactive video is only visible to members of your school/site", depending on your intended audience. Click Save Changes when you're done.

20. After you see the green notification confirming your changes are saved, you can click Save and Exit.

21. Refer to the knowledge article, "WeVideo: Add WeVideo Content to Brightspace" to assign your interactive video assignment to your students in Brightspace.
