WeVideo: Branched Learning

Overview

This article provides instructions on how to create branched learning experiences using WeVideo Interactivity. Branched learning allows you to direct students to different parts of a video based on their responses, enabling personalized and differentiated learning pathways.

Branched learning is ideal for scenarios where you need to:

  • Differentiate instruction based on student understanding
  • Provide remediation or enrichment pathways
  • Offer student choice in navigating content
  • Create adaptive, interactive learning experiences

Requirements

  • (Strongly Recommended) Familiarize yourself with the knowledge article "WeVideo: Create interactive assessments using an existing Mediasite video" before attempting branching scenarios.
  • Please see the device requirements listed in our knowledge article, "WeVideo: Overview".
  • You must have an active WeVideo account with content created and available to use
  • You must have an active Mediasite account with content created and available to use
  • If prompted, please have your mobile device handy for a Duo push notification during Villanova single sign-on. For more details, please refer to "Duo: Getting Started".

Verification/Expected Result

  • Learners are presented with choices during the video.
  • Based on responses or selections, learners are redirected to specific timestamps.
  • Multiple learning pathways function correctly within the same video.
  • Students can navigate content based on their needs or performance.

Known Issues & Troubleshooting

Learners cannot jump to different sections: Confirm playback settings (skip/fast forward) are enabled. Verify that jump timestamps are correctly configured.
Branching does not trigger after answering a question: Ensure a jump is assigned to each desired answer choice. Check Advanced Settings for correct/incorrect branching options.
Buttons are not clickable: Confirm text is properly linked using the jump icon. Verify button styling was applied correctly.
Learners follow the default path instead of branching: Check that jumps are configured for all relevant answers. Test the video in preview mode to confirm behavior.
