Multi-factor authentication is a standard best practice across industry and education, and is used to confirm that the person trying to access your account is you. Villanova University has opted to use the Duo security platform which requires the following information to verify your identity before granting access to critical web-based University resources (including, but not limited to MyNova, Blackboard, Zoom, and Microsoft 365):

  •  Something you know: When you visit a secured Villanova application, you must provide your Villanova username and password.
  •  Something you have: You will be asked to verify your identity via mobile device (smart phone, tablet or wearable device) or landline phone before being logged-in securely.

Why Use Duo?

Identity theft and other cybercrimes have increased exponentially in higher education. Passwords are becoming increasingly easy to compromise. They can often be hacked, guessed or stolen, which gives malicious actors access to sensitive information. Duo multi-factor authentication adds another layer of security not only for your account, but for Villanova's various web-based systems and applications. 

How to Enroll in Duo

The Duo enrollment process is self-service and takes less than three minutes to complete.

Go to MyNova to initiate the Duo prompt in order to enroll your devices. Please ensure you are on the Villanova network.
